I got a call in May, out of the blue one day.
A childhood voice so clear, without no fear.
He was the long lost friend, the strings that never end.
The one you really missed - top of the list.
Here is the party, Jack. Put on the party pack.
Get on the party track. But where is Jack?
There was an extra thrill, to play around the hill
A hide and seek on call, that was a ball.
And Jack would always win, I asked him where he'd been:
“Well I am sorry mate – you have to wait”.
He met a girl in school, she was so nice and cool.
And for her golden smile, you walked the mile.
So they would meet one night and get the bodies tight.
But Jack forgot the date, three hours late.
There was the last night home, a local party boom.
And all the kids were there, from everywhere.
We danced along the night, the future clear and bright.
I looked around the space, for Jackie’s face.

Now he's back on feet; back from a long retreat.
He wants to see us all, the coming fall.
I hope to meet him soon, that's what I tell the moon.
But hear the birdies sing: Perhaps comes spring...
